Three robbed at gunpoint near University of Minnesota campus 

The city has already seen 131 robberies this year.

Three people were robbed at gunpoint Thursday night near the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis, according to the school’s Department of Public Safety.

The first robbery occurred at 10th and 6th Street SE. Three males between the ages of 18 and 21 pointed a gun at the two victims and took their phones.

The second robbery occurred outside of M Health Fairview Hospital. A suspect pointed an airsoft pistol at the victim and then struck her in an attempt to take her purse. Hospital security intervened and rescued the victim.

The suspect dropped the airsoft pistol and ran to a nearby vehicle, identified as a white Chevy Malibu (Minnesota plate FXN384).

The city has already seen 131 robberies this year, including 18 in the Second Precinct where the University of Minnesota campus is located.
