A teen led a Ramsey County deputy on a wild chase Saturday morning that briefly continued as a foot chase after the teen plowed through a brick sign and careened off a building in the stolen vehicle he was driving.
Dashcam video in the squad car captured the chase.
The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office recounted the incident on its Facebook page:
“He was a 17-year-old behind the wheel of a stolen sedan – but first he wanted to steal some items from Walmart this past Saturday morning in Vadnais Heights.
That’s where our deputies located him and the car. But he took off before they could box him in, and a pursuit ensued.
The suspect left the Walmart parking lot in the stolen, with more than $70 worth of ill-gotten goods on him. Our deputy was right behind him, lights and sirens letting others know what was coming their way.
The suspect headed east on County Road E East. He briefly swerved into the oncoming lane…and then he lost control and crashed into a sign outside of a local business.
Our deputy put the squad into the driver’s side door to make it more difficult for the suspect to keep trying to evade arrest. But the juvenile climbed out of the passenger-side door and tried to run away.
He didn’t get far, giving himself up once he encountered a fence not that far from Tousley Motor Sports.
Now he’s in custody, awaiting charges, and not able to run away anymore.

There was no word on whether law enforcement was familiar with the teen and what charges the teen may face, or if he remains in custody at this time.
