Man falls and hits his head while crossing light rail tracks, reporter pulls him to safety
Minneapolis, MN- An Alpha News reporter became part of the news on Wednesday morning.
Alpha News Reporter Julia Erynn was at the Minneapolis City Hall reporting on protests that had taken place there earlier that morning. Erynn, who does her own camera work, was preparing to record a short segment when she saw a man fall and get stuck on the light rail tracks.
The unknown man, who appeared to be in his sixties, was caught on the tracks as trains were approaching.
You can see in the footage Erynn immediately drop her microphone when she hears the man yelling for help. Off-screen, she jumped onto the tracks as the trains sounded their horns frantically as they neared the scene.
Erynn was able to pull the man to safety. Erynn said, “The man was losing blood at an alarming rate.”
Erynn’s sister, who was tagging along for the day, assisted in stopping the blood flow until paramedics could arrive.
“Paramedics took the man to the nearest hospital. He was able to speak when he was placed in to the ambulance,” she said, “I’m shaken, but doing alright.”
Alpha News is in the process of obtaining security camera footage of the incident.
