A two-year-old boy was shot in the face early Monday morning in Minneapolis, Crime Watch Minneapolis reports.

The shooting took place just after 4:30 a.m. on the 1500 block of LaSalle Avenue. Police arrived at the scene to find a two-year-old with a gunshot wound to the face.

The child was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center and is in critical but stable condition, police said.

The boy was reportedly staying with a family member, not his parents, at the time of the shooting.

Police said they have “limited information” on what led up to the incident.

At least six children were shot in Minneapolis last year; some of them died, including 9-year-old Trinity Ottoson-Smith. She was jumping on a trampoline in a friend’s backyard in May when she was hit by a stray bullet from a “gang-related drive-by shooting,” according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

D’Pree Shareef Robinson, 19, was arrested last month on probable cause second-degree murder in connection to her death.
