27 charged so far in connection to August riots

National Guard soldiers and Minneapolis police officers in downtown Minneapolis after riots returned to the city in late August.

A total of 27 individuals have been charged with various crimes in connection to the riots that erupted in downtown Minneapolis last month.

The 27 charges represent just 19 percent of the 132 arrests that were made during the riots, though it’s possible more charges will be forthcoming.

Two individuals are facing charges for assaulting a police officer, including one man who threw a garbage can lid at a cop, who was then knocked unconscious.

According to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, those charged include:

  1. Mubashir Jeilani, 25, of Minneapolis, with second-degree burglary at a CVS Pharmacy located at 2001 Nicollet Avenue on Aug. 26.
  2. Jason Graves, 23, of Brooklyn Park, with third-degree burglary at a store in the 100 block of West Grant Street on Aug. 26.
  3. Gerald Wright, 30, of St. Paul, with third-degree burglary at a downtown business on South 7th Street on Aug. 26.
  4. Avarial McIntosh, 18, of Minneapolis, with third-degree burglary at a downtown business on South 7th Street on Aug. 26.
  5. Armando Ovando, 21, of Lake Elmo, with third-degree burglary at a downtown business on South 7th Street on Aug. 26.
  6. Terry Rean, 50, of Minneapolis, with third-degree burglary at a business near 12th Street and Nicollet Mall on Aug. 26.
  7. Asante Simmons, 26, of Bloomington, with third-degree assault and third-degree burglary for looting from a Foot Locker at 7th Street and then assaulting an officer who attempted to stop her from stealing the goods in a nearby underground parking garage on Aug. 26.
  8. Yoal Ruei, 18, of Coon Rapids, with third-degree burglary near 12th Street and Nicollet Mall on Aug. 26.
  9. Andrew Kephart, 19, of Aston, with third-degree burglary at the Saloon Bar on Aug. 26.
  10. Timothy Strong, 48, of St. Paul, with third-degree burglary at the Saloon Bar on Aug. 26.
  11. Jahmori Hunter, 18, of White Bear Lake, with third-degree burglary at the Saloon Bar on Aug. 26.
  12. David Smith, 22, of Minneapolis, with third-degree burglary at Pixie Liquor in Brooklyn Park on Aug. 27.
  13. Keeshowna Carney, 20, of St. Cloud, with third-degree burglary at Pixie Liquor in Brooklyn Park on Aug. 27.
  14. Phillip Scott, 21, of Brooklyn Park, with third-degree burglary at Pixie Liquor in Brooklyn Park on Aug. 27.
  15. Shantel Scott, 20, of Brooklyn Park, with third-degree burglary at Pixie Liquor in Brooklyn Park on Aug. 27.
  16. Maia Smith, 20, of Minneapolis with second-degree burglary near the 2000 block of Nicollet Avenue South on Aug. 27.
  17. Daniel Lamoreaux-Enno, 29, of Minneapolis, with third-degree burglary at a business near the 6000 block of Portland Avenue South on Aug. 27.
  18. Jerrode Johnson, 36, of Minneapolis, with third-degree burglary at Centre Village located at 433 South 7th Street on Aug. 26.
  19. Krista Gonsior, 39, of Minneapolis, with third-degree burglary at Centre Village located at 433 South 7th Street on Aug. 26.
  20. Justin Rock-Fairbanks, 24, of Minneapolis, with third-degree burglary at Foot Locker located at 23 S 7th Street on Aug. 26.
  21. Marquies Scott, 22, of Medina, with third-degree burglary at Foot Locker located at 23 S 7th Street on Aug. 26.
  22. Gregory Lee, 25, of Minneapolis, with second-degree burglary at a clinic in the area of 28th Street and Nicollet Avenue on Aug. 26.
  23. Bryant Wheeler, 50, of Minneapolis, with third-degree burglary at a Speedway in Minneapolis on Aug. 26.
  24. Martell Tolbert, 41, of Bloomington, with third-degree burglary at a restaurant near Second Avenue South and South Tenth Street on Aug. 27.
  25. Hanz Williams, 23, of Burnsville, with third-degree burglary at a restaurant near Second Avenue South and South Tenth Street on Aug. 27.
  26. Devon Holt, 30, with fifth-degree drug possession on Aug. 27.
  27. Brayshaun Gibson, 28, of Minneapolis, with second and third-degree assault, second-degree riot, and third-degree burglary.
