According to studies from Pew Research, the partisan divide over values and politics is exponentially increasing. The gap between the Democratic and Republican ideological centers continues to grow wider. Overlap on partisan political and cultural issues is virtually non-existent.
Politics has seeped into every single crevice our culture as attitudes towards those with differing opinions worsen. Words such as “Nazi,” “racist,” “bigot,” “homophobe,” and “white supremacist” are tossed around as casually and often as we talk about the weather. Words that once carried as much veracity as their definitions are now meaningless adjectives to throw into conversation and arguments in referencing an idea or person you detest. The most grotesque accusations you could espouse towards another human being are now met with a response of eye rolls.
The practice of dehumanizing political adversaries has become the favorite of leftist culture. Prominent figures in Hollywood, the media, and the political arena routinely dismiss half of America’s viewpoints as too dangerous to even address them with seriousness. According to the mainstream narrative, conservatives and Trump supporters aren’t merely wrong, they’re evil.
After four years of heightened media gaslighting and antipathy towards the right, four years of pushing a Russian hoax, and four years of calling conservatives bigots and Nazis, the left has found a faux sense of tolerance in their calls for unity. The media projection of a Biden presidency has led businesses to take down their boarded-up windows, the coronavirus to magically disappear as thousands of Democrats take to the streets to celebrate, and for the same Russian-hoax pushers to tell everyone to “just accept the results of the election.”
Democratic hypocrisy is in full force after Saturday’s media election result projection. Yet, the deliberate dishonesty of those who control the narrative paired with the cognitive dissonance of left-wing logic has provided an impenetrable shield against any repercussions to their inconsistent standards.
Woke leftists who currently control the culture are not only ignoring their own hypocritical standards, they’re covering their tracks. Every major institution, even those we look to for a source of truth, are heavily influenced by political correctness and woke culture. Just this week, Oxford and Webster changed the dictionary definition of the word “bigot” in order to encompass anyone deemed hateful by progressive ideologues.
The original definition read, “a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions.” The definition now reads as, “a person who is obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction, especially one who is prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.” In other words, the loose and decrepit use of the word “bigot” towards the right all of these years can now be applied in a more “accurate” manner in the eyes of the term’s espouser.
This isn’t the first time so-called “unbiased” institutions have attempted to alter reality. In the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett, Webster also changed the definition of the word “preference” to make it a slur for sexual orientation. This followed Barrett’s use of the words “sexual preference,” a phrase that was commonly used in left-wing media and the LGBTQ+ community about five seconds ago. Reality is no longer measured solely by objectivity; reality has been hijacked by the progressive gatekeepers of information.
If the next four years include a Biden administration, nothing will change. Decency will not be restored. Bipartisanship will not become more possible. Our nation’s “soul” will not be saved. Conservatives will still be considered evil. Liberals will still be considered our moral superiors. The media will run defense on every decision Biden makes and blame any negative occurrence on the previous Trump administration. The decreasing fatality rate of the coronavirus and the economic recovery will continue, and Biden will receive the credit.
The right’s rejection of the left’s call for unity is not intolerance or an unwillingness to “save” America. The right’s rejection of the left’s calls for “healing together” is calling out the largest bluff most of us have endured in our lifetimes. The boards on businesses came down, but the past four years of “resisting” are fresh in our minds, and cancel culture still looms. No, the left doesn’t get to call for peace while creating a blacklist of anyone who donated a cent to Donald Trump and claiming “anyone who helped undermine America will be held responsible for what they did.” Joe Biden doesn’t get to denigrate 71 million Americans as racist and then tell them we need to set aside our differences and unite.
The division in this country is a direct result of casting out half of America’s viewpoints. The opportunity to unify was years ago; the opportunity to fight back against progressivism is now. The calls for unity are just like the dictionary’s definition of “bigot” — dishonest, inconsistent, and objectionable. There will be no peace and unity in a Biden era. There will only be the consequences of their own repudiation of the very tolerance they claim to promote, and those consequences will look very red.
