“No one can tell me that if it had been a group of Black Lives Matter protesting yesterday, there wouldn’t — they wouldn’t have been treated very, very differently than the mob of thugs that stormed the Capitol,” President-elect Joe Biden claimed Thursday, adding, “We all know that’s true, and it is unacceptable.”
Surely we all do not.
Former CIA Director Michael Morell concurred, telling CBS, “There is no doubt in my mind that if those were Black Lives Matter protesters yesterday breaking into the Capitol building, there would be dozens and dozens of people dead today.”
No doubt? You cannot prove that.
It’s one thing to ignore data and believe myths that police are wantonly killing minorities; but claiming the Capitol riot is additional proof of bigotry, disregards reality.
Outmanned law enforcement officials battled a frenetic mob intent on destruction; “racial bias“ from the U.S. Capitol Police, of all groups, was not on display.
Amateur pundits, including Biden’s teenage granddaughter — who apparently alerted him to these perceived injustices — insisted that if predominantly black mobs overtook the nation’s capital, they’d be met with more force.
This ignores both what happened this week and what happened last summer in Washington, D.C. and across America during massive anti-police riots.
While there were examples during the “protests” of police officers responding strongly to activists, a thorough look shows no reported fatalities at the hands of law enforcement during months of intense racial unrest last year. The police surely weren’t gunning anyone down, but BLM-Antifa did celebrate the cold-blooded murder of a Trump supporter in Portland.
In fact, there’s evidence that police tolerated more violence and disorder than necessary from Black Lives Matter hooligans, including in Minneapolis, where dozens of buildings and a police precinct were allowed to burn.
Ashli Babbit wasn’t so lucky. The U.S. Air Force veteran was fatally shot Wednesday inside the Capitol building by a police officer as she attempted to enter a barricaded section.
Biden somehow failed to mention her in his name-calling rant from Delaware. Instead of mourning loss of life, our media audaciously mocks Babbit.
I also want LeBron James to “say her name.” He won’t. Just like he would never support law enforcement, our troops, or anyone except criminals and Communist Chinese.
While smug upper middle class progressives cheered on and justified the looting of minority-owned businesses, attacks on police, and the burning of federal buildings throughout 2020, common-sense Americans condemned it, just as Republicans did this week.
But Black Lives Matter was seldom condemned. Instead the Marxist militia got rewarded for their mayhem with a plaza named after them near the White House. Ignorant celebrities, virtue-signaling media, and millions self-righteously put black squares on Instagram in solidarity and donated money to their nefarious cause. Democrat politicians also encouraged people to get in the streets and chase political opponents out of restaurants.
The Jan. 6 riots were bad enough to merit serious reflection; we don’t need historical revisionism and political or racial exploitation as an additional talking point.
