Minnesota reported more than 7,000 new breakthrough COVID-19 cases Monday.
That brings the total number of breakthrough cases to 72,628, up from 64,844 last week. The Minnesota Department of Health releases data on breakthrough events just once a week (every Monday).
According to today’s report, 519 fully-vaccinated individuals have died of COVID-19 and 3,177 have been hospitalized. Those numbers are up from 483 breakthrough deaths and 2,956 breakthrough hospitalizations last week.
The percentage of fully-vaccinated Minnesotans who have tested positive for the virus has increased from 2.015% to 2.245%. The Department of Health does not disclose breakthrough data by date of event, leaving it to websites like Healthy Skeptic to fill in the gaps.
The state reported 5,266 new COVID-19 cases Monday. There were zero new deaths reported because “deaths were not processed” during the Veterans Day holiday last week. According to the Department of Health, there have been 9,122 reinfections in the state.
