Conservative commentators call for boycott of Target

Target's Pride line features many products geared towards children and babies, including books like "Bye Bye Binary" and "The Pronoun Book."

Popular political commentator Matt Walsh, who spearheaded the successful Bud Light boycott, called for a similar boycott of Target stores following the release of its new line of “Pride” products.

“We can throw up our hands and say it doesn’t matter and give up or we could be targeted and intentional and strategic about the companies we decide to boycott,” Walsh said during his Wednesday program. “I think that Target should be considered very eligible for that spot given that what they’re doing is far more egregious than some of the other virtue signaling that we see go on.”

The new line, released ahead of Pride month in June, features many products geared towards children and babies, including books like “Bye Bye Binary” and “The Pronoun Book.”

The children’s clothing items include phrases such as “Bien Proud” and “Just Be You And Feel The Love,” plus rainbow-colored leggings, tutu skirts, and jumpers. All of the items are gender neutral, in a “kids” or “baby” category. There are also “tuck-friendly” swimsuits, and LGBTQ onesies for babies.

Minnesota Rep. Andy Smith, DFL-Rochester, posted photos of himself wearing a shirt that reads “Trans people will always exist” from the Target Pride line.

Last year’s collection from Target included chest binders and “packing” underwear, which, according to Walsh, are available in kids’ sizes.

Walsh argued that Target’s Pride push is worse than Bud Light’s promotion of trans activist Dylan Mulvaney.

“This is far, far worse than anything Bud Light did. Target is specifically marketing products for children and putting them on display right in the front of their stores for all to see. Target is actively trying to recruit kids into the LGBT camp, and Target feels safe doing this,” he said.

Walsh acknowledged that consumers can’t boycott everything but said conservatives need to be strategic.

“That’s why we have to again be strategic and pick the targets, Target could be one of them. Pick something and make an example out of that. We cannot boycott every company,” he said.

Other conservative commentators have called for a boycott of Target over their Pride line, including Allie Beth Stuckey, Steven Crowder, and Jordan Peterson.
