Trooper Londregan cleared in internal affairs investigation

State Trooper Ryan Londregan (MADD Minnesota)

State Trooper Ryan Londregan has just been cleared in an internal affairs investigation after the criminal charges against him were dropped in June.

“The findings of the investigation have exonerated you of the allegations,” the report reads.

In January, Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty brought three felony charges against Trooper Londregan, including second-degree unintentional murder. The charges were connected to a July 2023 incident that resulted in the death of Ricky Cobb II.

Moriarty’s decision to charge Londregan, and her office’s handling of the case, were roundly criticized by law enforcement groups, elected officials, and many Minnesotans. At the beginning of June, Moriarty officially dropped all the charges against Londregan.

“Trooper Londregan is a hero, and it’s high time he is recognized as such,” Londregan’s attorney Chris Madel said.
