At least 87 vehicles were damaged across Minneapolis in a series of incidents reported Friday morning, according to a statement from the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) obtained by Crime Watch Minneapolis.
MPD said officers responded to reports of vehicles being damaged in several areas of the city, with damaged vehicles being reported in nine separate incidents.
“While some incidents involved similar suspect vehicle descriptions, there was no single vehicle or suspect description common to all the incidents,” MPD said.

As of Friday, police reported no arrests in connection with the damaged vehicles.
On Friday morning, a resident reported seeing MPD collecting evidence in the early morning on Marshall Street NE between 13th and 16th avenues.
The resident, who submitted a video of cars lining the street with smashed windows, told Crime Watch that “every vehicle had a broken window. Police said last night was the the largest widespread window smashing throughout the city.”

By Saturday morning, Crime Watch reported that even more car windows were smashed in northeast Minneapolis. Alpha News contacted MPD with questions for this story, but the police department did not respond to a request for comment by publication time.
Similar incidents played out across the city last summer.
