Average gas prices hit $4 in Minnesota 

This time last year the average price for a gallon of gas in Minnesota was $2.77.

The average price of gas in Minnesota surpassed $4 a gallon over the weekend while diesel prices hit their highest recorded level, according to statistics from AAA.

The current national average is $4.31, up 13 cents from a week ago. In Minnesota, the average price hit $4.00 Saturday, reaching $4.01 on Sunday. Just a week ago, the average price was $3.90. Prices are 15 cents higher than they were a month ago.

This time last year the average price for a gallon of gas in Minnesota was $2.77, $1.24 lower than the current average.

Diesel prices hit $5.32 on Sunday in Minnesota, the highest price ever recorded by AAA.

Prices for regular gas in Minnesota remain 26 cents lower than the record high of $4.27 set in May 2013. Nationally, average gas prices are once again closing in on the record of $4.33 set in March.

A new survey found that 66% of Americans plan to make “significant” changes to their daily lives because of high gas prices.
