A Blaine High School teacher has been placed on leave during what the school district referred to as a “pending investigation,” Alpha News has confirmed.

A spokesperson for the Anoka-Hennepin School District declined in an emailed statement to name the teacher or state the reason for the investigation, citing privacy restrictions under the state data practices act.

Social media posts began swirling earlier this week containing sexually explicit photos that were reported to be a teacher at the high school. Several parents and students claimed online that the photos were publicly posted by the alleged teacher on social media platforms. The social media accounts where the photos were posted have since been deleted.

The school district would not confirm that the teacher allegedly shown in the photos is the same teacher under investigation.

In regard to the explicit photos of the alleged teacher, it’s unclear whether any criminal activity has been connected to the posting or dissemination of the photos or whether any students are involved in any way. Information about whether the explicit photos may violate the school district’s social media or ethics policies for staff was not immediately available.

It’s also unclear if the school district has sent any notification to families about the teacher’s leave of absence and pending investigation.

A public relations director for the Anoka-Hennepin School District offered the following response to an emailed request for information:

“We can only confirm that a Blaine High School teacher was placed on leave pending an investigation. The Minnesota Government Data Practices Act prohibits the school district from discussing or sharing further details related to complaints that are subject to an investigation. We can assure you that Anoka-Hennepin has strict policies and clear reporting procedures and requirements regarding employee conduct. The best interests of students and fairness to employees are central considerations for the District when investigating reported complaints.”

Alpha News will continue to follow developments in this story.
