German Adriano Llangari Inga is facing three felonies and two gross misdemeanors in connection with a deadly head-on collision that occurred in Minneapolis last August.
Inga is not currently in custody and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
According to criminal charges filed last week, Inga was driving through Minneapolis on the night of Aug. 3, 2024 when he crossed a double yellow line and crashed head-on into another vehicle. The vehicle that was struck, a Dodge Durango, carried three people; two adults and a 14-year-old girl.
The driver of the Dodge Durango ultimately passed away after being taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, the two other passengers suffered injuries but survived. The medical examiner previously identified the decedent as Victoria Eileen Harwell; the complaint says the passengers were Harwell’s daughter and sister.
Inga was also taken to the hospital. Court documents say the officers who interacted with the 35-year-old could smell “a strong odor of alcohol” coming from his breath. The criminal complaint further notes that Inga’s eyes appeared “glazed over and watery.”
A breath test, taken at a time not specified in the complaint, indicated that Inga’s blood-alcohol content was .172. Roughly two-and-a-half hours after the crash, a blood draw revealed that Inga had a blood-alcohol level of .141.
Upon investigating, police reportedly found three open beer bottles in Inga’s vehicle, video leading up to the crash which showed the 35-year-old “driving fast and not staying in his lane,” and a witness who alleged that Inga’s car was driving fast.
According to court documents, the crash occurred at 10:39 p.m. on Aug. 3, but Inga told officers that he stopped drinking at 11:00 p.m. that same day.
Law enforcement also became aware of another incident shortly before the head-on crash in which Inga allegedly rear ended a vehicle that was stopped at a red light, made an illegal turn, and drove over a traffic stick as he left the area.
The criminal complaint says Inga “did not have a valid driver’s license or insurance.”
Inga has been charged with three felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide and two gross misdemeanor counts of criminal vehicular operation. Each felony carries a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment and/or a $20,000 fine. The gross misdemeanors carry maximum sentences of 364 days in jail and/or $3,000 fine.
