Did Bias Pass ISD 833’s $96Million Bond? Will It Be Up To A Judge To Decide?

Did bias play a role in the determination of the ISD 833 Question 2 Bond passing?

During the Canvassing Board meeting, a minor dust-up occurred when ISD 833 School Board Chairman, Ron Kath, seemed to taket comments made by Vote Yes Attorney Weinblatt and fellow Canvassing Board member, Washington County Auditor Kevin Corbid, regarding how the board members were to be reviewing each ballot – impartially and without regard to how the members would like the election outcome to be, personally:

Kath states, ” Obviously, we have two school board members…we took an oath to be fair and impartial…I take it very personal that my oath meant that I’m being fair and impartial and I truly believe that the ballots I’m looking at, I cannot tell the intent…”

Of the 18 challenged ballots, Kath voted 18 times against any of the ballots being “No” votes.

Another question is whether Attorney Kaardal plans to hold to his statement to KSTP-TV and file an Election Contest suit with Washington County District Court to challenge the Canvassing Board’s passage of the $96 million bond? Kaardal has until Wednesday, December 2 to file.

The South Washington Citizens for Progress committee, formed in opposition to ISD 833’s three ballot question referendum, is raising funds for the election contest court case.  They have been working to raise the $5000 for the required”Court Bond” as well as for other case-related expenses.  When discussing the fundraising efforts and why they are involved, the committee members have expressed that they intend “see this issue through to the end,” and that the community has come out in support – both financially and expressed – of the committee and the election contest case.

Donations to the election contest case fund can be made by visiting the South Washington Citizens for Progress committee’s PayPal donation page, or potential donors can also email FJP4C2015@tznvy.pbz for more information on how to donate donate via check.
