Gov. Tim Walz announced Tuesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19. He is fully-vaccinated and received a booster shot.

The governor said his son tested positive on Monday. He and his wife initially tested negative but received positive results on Tuesday.

“Thankfully, my son has mild symptoms and Gwen and I have no symptoms. My son is vaccinated, and Gwen and I are vaccinated and have our booster shots, and I am confident that these vaccines are protecting my family and me from serious illness,” Walz said.

Walz encouraged Minnesotans to get vaccinated.

He and his family join the 125,076 fully-vaccinated Minnesotans who have tested positive for the virus.
