An upcoming benefit for former Minneapolis police officer Alex Kueng will be held next week to help him get back on his feet. The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cowboy’s Saloon in Lexington (9005 S Hwy Dr, Circle Pines, MN 55014).
Those wishing to attend should RSVP.
Liz Collin, senior reporter and producer for Alpha News, will be the emcee, joining Alex and his family along with many of his friends and supporters.
Attorney Chris Madel will also attend the event to support Alex. Madel defended Alpha News, Liz Collin, and others against a defamation lawsuit filed by Minneapolis Assistant Police Chief Katie Blackwell. Blackwell’s case was recently dismissed.
The writer/director of “The Fall of Minneapolis“—the Alpha News documentary that featured Alex and the other officers involved in the arrest of George Floyd—will also be in attendance.

Building a life—after George Floyd
Having just completed field training, Alex was working his third shift as a police officer when he was assigned to a 911 call about a forgery on May 25, 2020. Alex and his partner, Officer Thomas Lane, arrived and soon encountered the suspect, George Floyd. Floyd was sitting in a parked car across the street near the intersection of 38th and Chicago.
What followed next led to rioting and the most sensationalized socio-political events of our time, as depicted in the Alpha News documentary, “The Fall of Minneapolis.”
Along with fellow officers Thomas Lane, Tou Thao, and Derek Chauvin, Kueng stood trial.
Alex served more than three years in prison. He was released in January and is trying to rebuild his life.
His time in prison as a former police officer may be difficult to imagine, but Alex continues to face difficulties every day: from getting a cellphone, to opening a bank account, to getting a job, and forging ahead after his time in public service as a police officer to find a different career and future.
Donations to help Alex are welcome: online or in-person
All donations collected at the event will go directly to help Alex move forward.
Those who cannot attend can still help. Donations to Alex can be made via GiveSendGo.
