ST. PAUL, Minn. — It’s the last weekend of the Minnesota State Fair where hundreds of thousands are expected to enjoy the last days of summer.
Political candidates are also benefiting from the large crowds as the state fair is seen as the unofficial kick-off for the 2018 election cycle.
On Saturday, gubernatorial candidate Keith Downey, a former legislator in the Minnesota House and most recently the Chair of the MNGOP, discussed his platform in-depth with Alpha News.
Minnesota House legislator Rep. Tim Miller (R-Prinsburg) took time to discuss his run for Congress with Alpha News.
Candidate for Attorney General Harry Niska spoke with Alpha News to discuss the importance of a Republican challenger in the Attorney General race.
On Sunday, less than 100 protesters took to Snelling Ave. for the “Injustice on a Stick” protest. The group’s protest led to the fair’s busiest street to be blocked for hours.
On Monday, the gubernatorial candidates participated in a forum at the Minnesota Republican Party booth at the State Fair.
Candidates answered questions ranging from the Met Council to health care.
