Rep. Ilhan Omar believes her 67-year-old father died due to the Trump administration’s COVID-19 policies.
The controversial Democrat lost her father, Nur Omar, in June. He passed away in Minneapolis.
“I remember my dad was in Kenya, he came back into the U.S. when Covid hit because he thought he was going to be safer here,” she claimed Thursday. “My father and over 300,000 people have lost their lives to Covid because of dangerous criminal neglect by Trump and his administration. My father should be here today, so many of our family members should be here today.”

Omar, who has recently been selling crude anti-Trump shirts, supports House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn’s Wednesday memo alleging political interference by Trump administration appointees into the work of CDC employees.
“I agree with Clyburn that it is not enough for us just to issue subpoenas, we have to investigate and prosecute these people who are responsible for these reckless deaths,” she added. “Our president today has not shown an ounce of compassion to the people who have passed away. He still has not acknowledged the devastating loss so many of us are feeling.”
In reality, per the 10th Amendment, each state governor is responsible for the actions of their state. The Trump administration set guidelines, and state leadership made their own choices. Whether in California, Florida, Minnesota or New York, the congresswoman’s beef is with the governors.
Omar is no stranger to controversy. She’s faced allegations that she married her biological brother for immigration purposes, and was caught having an extramarital affair with a campaign consultant — to whom she funneled millions of dollars — while married to her second husband.
She has also engaged in anti-Semitic rhetoric numerous times, as well as demeaning the United States and Minneapolis police.
Even the left-leaning Star Tribune endorsed her primary opponent this summer.
