Amy Klobuchar purportedly Lost the Debate on Twitter with the lowest number of Twitter mentions (12.7K) and engagements (Likes or Retweets) (46.6K) in comparison to the other 9 candidates. While Klobuchar pivoted around major pitfalls, she was unable to break through to a greater number of potential voters. This goes to show that the old trope about Minnesotans not having enough moxie or charisma to take on the beastly political world may, in fact, be true.
In her opening statement, Klobuchar broke from her radical Leftist fellow candidates and — in a plea to those right of center— promised “she doesn’t want to be the president for half of America, but for all of America!”
“If you feel stuck in the middle of the extremes in our politics and you are tired of the noise and the nonsense, you’ve got a home with me” quipped Klobuchar.
In stereotypical midwestern fashion, Klobuchar had corny phrases like “Houston, we have a problem” that got some interesting (in the Minnesotan sense of the word) feedback. People on Twitter ran with it, saying, “Klobuchar just set back perceptions of her fellow Minnesotans’ senses of humor by decades” and that the Presidential candidate was “angling [to be the] Secretary of Dad Jokes.”
