A Maple Grove rideshare driver is accused of accosting a teenage rider with lewd sexual comments and suggestions, sexually exposing himself to her, and preventing her from exiting his vehicle over the weekend.

Shueb Ahmed Dahir, 23, has been charged in Dakota County District Court with one felony count of indecent exposure while confining or restricting another person.

Charges say police were called to an Apple Valley hotel on Saturday after a parent reported that a rideshare driver had exposed himself to their 16-year-old daughter.

Police arrived and spoke to the teen victim who said she had arranged for the ride from her residence in Apple Valley to the hotel. She told police that the ride took longer than usual, and she noticed that the driver, later identified as Dahir, kept looking in the rearview mirror an unusual amount of time.

The victim said Dahir began asking if she was in a relationship and if she had ever “given head.” Dahir further questioned the girl about whether she would perform oral sex on him, the complaint states.

The victim told Dahir, “No.” Upon arrival at the hotel, Dahir stopped short of where the victim wanted to be dropped off. Dahir attempted to further engage the victim in conversation, and the victim told the driver that she needed to get ready for work.

Dahir proceeded to park the car in a parking spot, get out of the driver’s seat, and get into the backseat with the victim. After getting in the backseat, Dahir pulled his penis out of his sweatpants and began telling the victim to “grab it” and “touch it” and “suck it.”

The victim told police she had felt scared of Dahir and made several attempts to get out of the car, but Dahir kept pulling her back into the car. Dahir also attempted to get her to touch his penis by grabbing her wrist and forearm.

In a post-Miranda statement, Dahir admitted to police that he had asked the victim if she had ever performed oral sex and did expose his penis to her.

The criminal complaint did not specify the name of the rideshare service through which Dahir was working.

Dahir made his first court appearance on Tuesday and was granted a public defender. Dahir remains in custody on $50,000 bail and his next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 21.
