A Minneapolis protester recently suggested to a reporter that white people need to be killed so they can “feel the pain” of black Americans.
Filmmaker and reporter Ami Horowitz visited the streets of Minneapolis, prior to Derek Chauvin’s verdict being read, to interview protesters and activists.
“I don’t want to say we need to start killing all white folks, but it’s like, maybe they need to feel the pain and the hurt,” one woman said.
“Burn the whole city down, what does it matter?” another protester proclaimed.
As first reported by the Minnesota Sun and seen in the two-minute video by Horowitz, many protesters advocated for burning the city down. Most saw burning the city as no problem.
“I say burn the city down, you know? So they can see that we’re here,” a protester said.
“That would be the least of our problems,” another woman said when asked if she thinks the city will burn down.
All six of the citizens Horowitz spoke to agreed — some fervently — that “genocide” is a good word for what is going on.
Genocide is defined as the “deliberate killing” of a group of people with “the aim of destroying” that group.
This is “genocide of anyone that’s not white,” one protester clarified.
Another said she thinks the majority of U.S. citizens are white supremacists and that it would be “ideal” to gather all white supremacists and “do street justice.”
Regarding the murder trial of Chauvin, some believe a trial was not needed: “There shouldn’t even be a trial. He should be convicted just as is.”
The same woman who suggested killing white people guessed that “thousands” of unarmed black people were killed by cops last year in America and “hundreds” in Minnesota.
According to Horowitz, that number for the entire nation in 2020 is 18.
