A registered Minnesota lobbyist is in custody after allegedly threatening to enact violence at the Capitol.
Jonathan Michael Bohn, 41, of Woodbury was taken into custody Wednesday evening and was booked into Carver County Jail on a probable cause charge of threats of violence.
A press release issued Thursday afternoon by the Minnesota House Republican caucus shed some light on the circumstances surrounding the arrest, stating that Rep. Jim Nash, R-Waconia, notified the House Sergeant at Arms, State Patrol, and Carver County Sheriff’s Office that one of his constituents had received a threatening text message from an unnamed party. The text allegedly included a threat of violence at the Capitol but was not directed at any particular lawmaker.

The press release stated that the suspect was questioned and arrested.
Sources familiar with the situation told Alpha News that the incident involved Bohn and a text that involved a threat to shoot “one of you…” at the Capitol.
Bohn works as the Director of Public Affairs at Inter Faculty Organization, according to his LinkedIn page, and has been involved in lobbying activities in higher education.
Bohn’s X account shows tweets in support of the Walz-Flanagan ticket in 2018, and public records from the Minnesota campaign finance board show Bohn has made several donations to DFL candidate campaigns.

The alleged threats come less than a week after the assassination of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark in their Brooklyn Park home, and the shootings of Sen. John Hoffman and his wife Yvette in Champlin, and two weeks after Gov. Tim Walz told supporters to “get a little meaner” with Republicans.
Bohn remains in custody without bail ahead of potential charges.
Alpha News will continue to follow developments in this case.
