The announcement on Friday, October 28, 2016 by FBI Director James Comey on the reopening of the Clinton email investigation took many by surprise. In Minnesota, as many as 250,000 voters have cast early ballots since early voting opened up on September 23, 2016.
After Friday’s FBI announcement along with the thousands of leaked Clinton campaign emails by WikiLeaks, some voters may be wishing they had waited to cast their ballot.
As Fox News Insider reports in the video below, those Minnesota voters who want to change their minds have one more day to do so:
Alpha News contacted the Minnesota Secretary of State office to clarify the early voting rules regarding voters who want to change ballots that have already been cast. According to the SOS, anyone who wishes to change their ballot must do so by the end of business day on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. After that, early/absentee ballots that have already been submitted cannot be changed. In order to cancel a submitted ballot, voters must contact the election office from which they received the original ballot.
You can ask to cancel your ballot until the close of business one week before Election Day. After that time, you cannot cancel your ballot. To cancel your ballot, contact the election office that sent your ballot. Your options are to have a new ballot mailed; vote in person at your local election office; or vote at your polling place on Election Day. ~ Minnesota Secretary of State
Early and absentee voting is still available to voters through Election Day (November 8, 2016), but ballots must be received by November 8 if they are to count in the General Election. Ballots can be returned in person as long as the ballots are in by 3pm on Election Day. Voters can drop off ballots for themselves and three other people.
Voters who wish to vote early by mail can apply online or download the application at the Secretary of State’s website. Voters can also vote early in person at their local county election office as well as in a number of cities and counties that are offering early voting locations.
