Omar pressures Biden to cancel plans to finish sections of Trump’s ‘racist’ wall

Rep. Ilhan Omar had a busy Wednesday on social media bonding with fellow anti-Semitesranting about articles she didn’t read and, perhaps most surprisingly, warning President Joe Biden not to be “racist.”

This criticism followed reports that the Biden administration is considering restarting construction of former President Donald Trump’s wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

“It’s shameful and unacceptable for POTUS to continue the construction of Trump’s xenophobic and racist wall,” Omar said on Twitter.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said during a conversation with ICE employees last week that the administration was considering finishing “gaps in the wall.”

This comes as the administration struggles to maintain control of a worsening border crisis.

“It’s not a single answer to a single question. There are different projects that the chief of the Border Patrol has presented and the acting commissioner of CBP presented to me,” Mayorkas said. “The president has communicated quite clearly his decision that the emergency that triggered the devotion of DOD funds to the construction of the border wall is ended. But that leaves room to make decisions as the administration, as part of the administration, in particular areas of the wall that need renovation, particular projects that need to be finished.”

Mayorkas specifically mentioned those projects include “gaps,” “gates,” and areas “where the wall has been completed but the technology has not been implemented.”

The report, which originally came from the Washington Times, said the newly completed section of border wall includes technology to allow authorities to detect incursions and features “high-speed roads” allowing for quick response. The report also highlighted recent polls showing the majority of Americans support finishing the wall’s construction.

Over two weeks ago, Biden appointed Vice President Kamala Harris as “border czar” to find root causes of the crisis.

Harris has done nothing. She has not traveled to the border or even held a press conference. She did not join the administration’s special envoy on his trip this week to El Salvador to discuss migration. She instead visited California, Connecticut and Chicago in recent days to push a political agenda.

Nikki Haley, a likely 2024 presidential candidate, called out Harris’ incompetence and failures Wednesday on Fox News.

Also asked about the VP’s continued absence Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki provided no new information and said there are no plans for Harris to do her job.
