A letter from Congress and from both sides of the political aisle was sent to Alex Azar, the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Asking for financial aid to hospitals that are under strain from the Covid-19 virus.
The letter has the support of a few Minnesotan legislators as well, including Jim Hagedorn who represents southern Minnesota.
It was my honor to join a bipartisan group of House and Senate colleague and send this letter to @SecAzar urging the immediate and efficient distribution of funds allocated to our fine rural hospitals in the latest #COVID19 relief package. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/1XxALJ5FmW

Legistlators recently passed the CARES act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security), which allows financial relief for hospitals. The letter says the act allows the HHS “… the flexibility to deliver asssistance where it is needed most.”
The request says, “Small and rural hospitals across the nation are facing an acute financial crisis. Even before this crisis, nearly one-half of rural hospitals were operating at a financial loss, and hundreds were on the brink of closure.”
The letter asks for speedy relief, saying, “Any unnecessary delay will worsen the situation,” and “Therefore, we request you make the financial relief of rural hospitals a priority.”
