After 47 years of Minnesota Democrat control the residents of SD11 which includes St. Louis, Carlton, Pine and Kanabec will have a Republican State Senator.

The Lourey family has controlled that seat for over twp decades and the Democrats were confident that the third generation politician Stu Lourey would comfortably replace his father who took a job in the administration of Governor Tim Walz.

However Republican Electrician and State Representative Jason Rarick was able to defeat Stu Lourey by over 1,000 votes. The election will give the Minnesota Republican Senate Majority some breathing room as they try to Democrat leadership in the Minnesota House from raising the gas tax, reducing gun rights, and a large increase in the government budget.

Additionally greater Minnesota continues to shift towards the Republican Party as the Democrats embrace socialists and metro-centric policies.

Jason Rarick posted a thank you video to his supporters below

Governor Walz will now have to call another special election in the very near future to replace Representative Jason Rarick.
