Rick Olson was born in Michigan and has served as a representative in their state legislature. He also has experience as an attorney, a financial planner, agricultural economist, agricultural lender, agricultural cooperative manager and President, and business coach. He officially retired in 2017 after working as a school business manager in Foley Public Schools, near St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Now, Olson has announced that he will be running for congress in Congressional District 2 as a Republican. Olson wants to push back against the rise of socialism to preserve the free market and capitalist system.
“Free markets and freedom are the answer,” Olson says, as he believes “preserving the individual liberties envisioned by our Founding Fathers is critical” and “shouting at each other instead of listening to each other will never produce real solutions.”
Olson is also a member of the Prior Lake rotary club and serves as a moderator for a variety of groups who aim to create discussions surrounding policy issues, depolarizing America, foreign policy, and conservative climate change solutions.
Olson believes that key “issues are not being solved in Washington DC, they won’t be solved by partisan screaming, and they certainly won’t be solved with Socialism” and intends to uphold the U.S constitution by keeping government small, if elected.
