State Rep Says Keith Ellison has Launched ‘Goon Squad’ to Enforce Gov. Walz’ EOs

A Minnesota state representative says the state’s Attorney General Keith Ellison has formed a “goon squad” to stop Minnesota residents from attempting to make a livelihood and care for their families.

A Minnesota state representative says the state’s Attorney General Keith Ellison has formed a “goon squad” to stop Minnesota residents from attempting to make a livelihood and care for their families through a new partnership he’s formed with the US Attorney for MN.

Minnesota State Rep. Eric Lucero (R-30B, Dayton) took to the airwaves on Facebook on Thursday to rail on Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison’s new initiative to hunt down and prosecute residents of Minnesota who violate Gov. Tim Walz’ executive orders requiring them to shut down their businesses and stay at home.

Lucero started the 3-minute video by asking viewers, “Are you carrying your papers with you?”

Lucero went on to remind people that Gov. Walz recently established an anonymous “tip line” that encourages neighbors to report each other for violating Walz’ executive orders. Lucero said, “that is not what we should be doing here in the state of Minnesota.”

“If that weren’t bad enough,” Lucero continued, “we have a report that [Attorney General] Keith Ellison has started a, what I’m calling, ‘goon squad’ to enforce Governor Walz’ executive orders.”

Lucero read from a report in Minnesota Sun media that Ellison along with US Attorney for the District of Minnesota Erica McDonald have formed a joint “COVID-19 action team” to enforce Gov. Tim Walz’s emergency executive orders.

Lucero detailed that the new “action team” is a “coordinated statewide effort focused on investigating and prosecuting unlawful activity associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and enforcing all state and federal laws and executive orders to put an end to it.”

“Put an end to those that are attempting to establish a livelihood and make ends meet in order to pay their bills, in other words,” Lucero editorialized.

“This is how terrible policy, how government grows, how an overbearing government intrudes into the lives of a free people under the auspices of ‘it is being done to protect the people,’” Lucero further commented.

Lucero said he’s very concerned about these actions including the tip line, requiring people to have papers and now having Keith Ellison’s “goon squad SWAT team” come in and go after those with the full force of law who are attempting to live their lives in a free society.

“This has to come to an end,” Lucero said, and vowed to continue fighting to bring an end to Gov. Walz’ emergency powers that he said the governor continues to unilaterally extend without consulting with the legislature. “It is definitely a threat to our liberties.”
