On Wednesday, the Minnesota Republican Party announced it hired State Rep. Walter Hudson, R-Albertville, as the party’s new Strategic Outreach and Engagement Director.

“This role will enable me to accelerate what I’ve already been doing, traveling the state engaging with a wide array of Minnesotans from every walk of life, linking values to policy, and building a coalition to restore our state,” Rep. Hudson said in a statement.

Serving in his first term as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, Hudson told Alpha News that he will remain in the House and seek reelection to his legislative seat.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to join the team at the Republican Party of Minnesota,” said Hudson. “Politics is often considered a dirty word, but it really boils down to relationships. That’s what I will be doing in my new role as Strategic Outreach and Engagement Director, fostering relationships, both within the party and—more importantly—between the party and communities throughout the state of Minnesota.”

The Albertville lawmaker won his first election to the state House by roughly 25 points in 2022. A Republican stronghold, Hudson’s district includes St. Michael, Otsego, Albertville, and several other municipalities.

“We are excited to be adding to our team here at the MN GOP as we work tirelessly to turn out every Republican vote for our candidates up and down the ticket, and we are especially excited that Rep. Walter Hudson is the newest addition,” MN GOP Chairman David Hann said.

“We are grateful for [Hudson’s] willingness to help build coalitions with non-traditional Republican voters across Minnesota,” added Hann.

A press release from the MN GOP mentioned that the party had brought on “nearly two dozen other staff additions to the party’s operations” prior to hiring Hudson. The state party informed Alpha News that those new staff included both “Field staff and Trump staff.”

The state party also mentioned that Hudson will be the party’s 17th full-time employee, not including Chairman Hann. Additionally, the MN GOP has nine part-time staffers, not including the party’s vice chair, “who is technically a part time staffer.”

The MN GOP further elaborated on Hudson’s new role, saying his responsibilities include, “Building up and maintaining stakeholder group relationships across the state on behalf of the Republican Party of Minnesota for the main purposes of Republican Electoral Success in Minnesota and Republican Party Engagement.”

“Stakeholder groups may include but are not limited to other conservative-aligned groups organized outside of the official party system and structure; faith communities and leadership; minority communities and leadership; and local BPOU and county party leadership across the state,” added the party.
