St. Louis Park City Council made national news when the council with little notice chose to abandon the tradition of saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
The reason that was given for this policy change was to make council meetings more welcoming to the “diverse” population of St. Louis Park.
Council Members were overwhelmed with negative feedback and agreed to hold a study session hoping to defuse some controversy. The council defended their decision and refused to attack action on this issue.
Instead, the refused to allow comment from citizens and will hold another meeting around this issue.
Citizens that are concerned about this issue plan to attend the St. Louis Park City Council meeting on July 15th at 5:30 PM
