Turning Point USA (TPUSA) reporter Savanah Hernandez was assaulted by multiple protesters on Saturday outside the Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis during continued anti-ICE demonstrations at the location, video from the incident shows.
Hernandez said she was on site to capture B-roll footage from Whipple and wasn’t there to interact with or interview anyone.
Multiple videos later posted online captured the assaults from multiple angles.

Several social media posters subsequently identified three of the people who accosted or assaulted Hernandez as Chris Ostroushko (blue sweatshirt), his wife Deyanna Ostroushko (black jacket and ball cap), and their daughter Paige Ostroushko (black and white jacket).
In the videos, Paige Ostroushko can be seen blowing a whistle into Hernandez’s ear, then a short time later appears to punch or shove Hernandez, causing her to fall into a chain link fence. At one point during the altercation, a woman later identified as Deyanna Ostroushko, Paige’s mother, confronts Hernandez. Seconds later, Chris Ostroushko is seen shoving Hernandez from behind, causing her to fall to the pavement.
Another video clip captured the shove from Chris Ostroushko, in a blue sweatshirt, from another angle.
Ope, looks like one of the birdcage liner's fake heroes is going to go down with an assault charge. The obese man in the blue sweatshirt who shoved Savanah Hernandez to the ground is Chris Ostroushko, vaunted by the birdcage liner as "soccer dad" anti-ICE protester. https://t.co/DyLoeOsPaA pic.twitter.com/Dae4K5Ump5

Chris Ostroushko made headlines back in January when a national media outlet interviewed him at a protest in a profanity-laced tirade following an ICE-involved shooting in north Minneapolis. The Star Tribune and other local media subsequently vaunted Ostroushko and framed him as an anti-ICE “every man” from Minnesota.
One of Hernandez’s posts on Saturday claimed that William Kelly identified her at the protest and incited the mob of protesters against her. Kelly was federally charged in January in connection to the ambush demonstration at Cities Church in St. Paul, alongside Nekima Levy Armstrong and Don Lemon.
Harmeet Dhillon, assistant attorney general for civil rights at the U.S. Department of Justice, quote tweeted Hernandez’s post saying, “On it,” possibly in reference to exploring whether Kelly’s actions were in violation of his conditional release from custody or whether his actions meet the level of another offense.

Video clips posted online show law enforcement eventually intervened in the situation. A source with information on the response told Crime Watch that at one point, over 100 protesters had breached a law enforcement perimeter and were interfering with arrests, and that the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office had requested “every available officer” to help.
In a statement to Alpha News, a spokesperson from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that charges will be forthcoming in connection to the assault on Hernandez:
“In total, 4 people will be charged from yesterday’s protest. Three of them are tied to the assault of a journalist. The fourth is charged with gross misdemeanor obstruction with force against a deputy.
1 – adult female arrested for disorderly conduct – fighting (to be charged by complaint)
1- adult male arrested for GM obstruction with force – BOOKED at HCJ
1 – adult male arrested for GM obstruction with force – to be charged by complaint
1 -adult male identified as a suspect for disorderly conduct to be charged by complaint.”
A video clip of Paige Ostroushko was later posted online, in which she claimed her boyfriend Lorenzo Amadeo Garcia was arrested. Hennepin County Jail records confirm Garcia, 20, was booked into custody on probable cause obstructing the legal process.
Alpha News will continue to follow any updates to this story.
