Tyler Kistner’s campaign has been promoted to the highest level of the Young Guns program by the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Kistner, a Marine veteran and Republican candidate for Minnesota’s Second Congressional District, was promoted to the highest rank of the Young Guns program Wednesday by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy after his campaign passed a series of rigorous goals and benchmarks.
The Young Guns program is designed to help elect Republican candidates running for Congress and qualifies them on three levels: On Radar, Contender, and Young Gun.
“Our campaign has been working overtime to effectively raise money to get our positive message out to the voters. People from all over Minnesota and the Second Congressional District have been energized by our efforts, and we are bringing this grassroots enthusiasm with us into the fall. I am excited to receive that validation that comes with being admitted into the highest level of the Young Guns program,” said Kistner.
🚨 Our campaign has officially been moved up to full @NRCC Young Gun status by @kevinomccarthy! This is one of the top GOP pick up opportunities in 2020, and we are on track to win. #MN02— Tyler Kistner for Congress (@KistnerCongress) August 5, 2020

“These candidates on this list will ensure that hardworking Americans are heard and protected from the Democrats’ socialist agenda,” McCarthy commented in a statement. “We are less than 100 days out and this impressive group is poised to turn the House red.”
The NRCC said the Young Gun tier candidates represent the most competitive congressional seats in 2020. And Kistner’s campaign believes that his quick movement through the program is evidence he “will be one of the strongest contenders in the country.”
He recently outraised incumbent Rep. Angie Craig in the second quarter of 2020.
“People from all over #MN02 have been energized by our campaign. I am excited for the validation that comes with being an NRCC Young Gun!” wrote Kistner on Twitter.
Republican Kendall Qualls, a candidate in Minnesota’s Third Congressional District, was upgraded to the NRCC’s Contender tier.
