A newly released image reveals that some members of vice presidential candidate Tim Walz’s family are not aligned with his candidacy.
In fact, they are shown endorsing his Republican rival, Donald Trump.
The photo, shared by former Nebraska GOP gubernatorial candidate Charles W. Herbster, features eight individuals wearing t-shirts that read “Nebraska Walz’s (sic) for Trump.”
Despite the grammatical error, the message is clear: this faction of the Walz family is backing Trump’s bid for the White House, rather than their relative, who is Kamala Harris’ running mate on the Democratic ticket.
Herbster’s post, which quickly gained attention online, was captioned, “Tim Walz’s family back in Nebraska wants you to know something…”
A representative for Herbster confirmed to DailyMail.com the people in the image are related to Gov. Walz through his grandfather’s brother.
According to TMZ, Walz’s mother confirmed the eight people in the photo are distant relatives of the vice presidential candidate.
“In the last few days, Walz’s brother and multiple other members of his extended family have come out publicly against him and for Trump. Is anyone in the leftwing media going to cover this?” Donald Trump Jr. wrote on X.
Jeff Walz, who lives in Florida and is the governor’s older brother, recently warned in a Facebook comment that Harris’ running mate is “not the type of character you want making decisions about your future,” the New York Post and others reported.
“I was getting a lot of feedback from my friends, old acquaintances, thinking that I was feeling the same way that my brother did on the issues, and I was trying to clarify that just to friends,” Jeff Walz told NewsNation this week. “I used Facebook, which wasn’t the right platform to do that. But I will say, I don’t agree with his policies.”
The Harris-Walz campaign has yet to comment on the image or the claims made by Jeff Walz.
