Report: Walz’s brother says Minnesota governor ‘not the type of character you want’ in office

"I’m 100% opposed to all his ideology," Jeff Walz wrote of his younger brother, the New York Post reported.

The brother of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz warned in a Facebook comment that Kamala Harris’s running mate is “not the type of character you want making decisions about your future,” the New York Post and others reported.

“I’m 100% opposed to all his ideology,” Jeff Walz wrote of his younger brother, according to the Post.

The elder Walz’s Facebook profile was first discovered by Laura Loomer, who reported on a March 2023 post from Jeff Walz that coincided with former President Donald Trump’s indictment in New York City.

“We’ve just become a third world banana republic,” Jeff Walz wrote at the time.

He has since responded to some of the comments on his Facebook profile with a warning about his brother, a two-term governor of Minnesota who is now the Democratic Party’s nominee for vice president.

“I’ve thought hard about doing something like that! I’m torn between that and just keeping my family out of it. The stories I could tell. Not the type of character you want making decisions about your future,” Jeff Walz wrote in a comment Friday in response to someone who suggested he “get on stage with President Trump and endorse him,” according to the Post.

The governor’s brother is a registered Republican who donated $20 to Trump in 2016, the Post reported.

Jeff, 67, is the oldest of four siblings, according to the Post. He’s followed by Sandy, 63, Tim, 60, and Craig, who died in 2016.

Gov. Walz’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
