St. Paul, MN – Minnesota’s gun activists are responding to the news that that the actions of Avon police officer Jason Falconer, who shot a man who was stabbing people at a St. Cloud mall in September, were officially deemed “justified and lawful.”
As Alpha News reported, a man now identified as Dahir Adan walked into the Crossroads Center Mall in St. Cloud and started stabbing people. Ten people were hurt before Falconer, who was off-duty at the time, shot and killed Adan.
According to the St. Cloud Times, Stearns County Attorney Janelle Kendall announced that Falconer’s decisions were “justified and lawful” during a news conference Thursday at police headquarters and cleared Falconer of any wrongdoing.
Kendall revealed footage showing Adan running inside the mall and being shot while holding knives.
Minnesota gun activists are responding to the news. “We’re pleased to see that Officer Falconer’s use of deadly force in stopping the terrorist attack at the Crossroads Mall was ruled justified by the Stearns County prosecutor, ” said Bryan Strawser, Chair, Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus & Political Action Committee.
“We continue to oppose gun free zones like the Crossroad Mall that prohibit law-abiding Minnesotans from exercising their constitutional rights. Gun free zones only serve to endanger the lives of others and create a safe target for criminals and terrorists,” Strawser said.
Andrew Rothman, President of the Gun Owner’s Civil Right’s Alliance also praises the news, saying, “As we see over and over, the fastest way to stop an armed attack is to respond with immediate and decisive force. This terrorist attacker was stopped because Jason Falconer, like a quarter million other Minnesotans, chose to carry a self defense tool. And once again, a good guy with a gun ended the threat.”
Kendall says Falconer fired ten rounds, striking Aidan six times.
