Adult store promoted by Minnesota media says ‘f–k the Fourth of July,’ celebrates Lindsey Graham’s death

"Also just preemptively letting you guys know that when Mitch McConnell dies, we will be closed and we will be partying," a Smitten Kitten employee said in an Instagram video.

An adult store in Minneapolis that has been promoted by Minnesota’s media is drawing criticism online for some of its social media posts.

In a July 3 instagram post, Smitten Kitten announced that it would be open on the Fourth of July because “we ain’t proud of what this country was built on in the slightest.”

“F–k the Fourth of July. We’re not doing that s–t,” an employee said in the Instagram video.

“Also just preemptively letting you guys know that when Mitch McConnell dies, we will be closed and we will be partying,” the employee continued. “Same thing for when it happens that I’m not gonna say on here because I don’t wanna get charged with some crazy s–t.”

In a Sunday post, the store reacted to the sudden passing of U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham with a video of two employees dancing and high-fiving along with text that reads, “Rest in Piss.”

“We love to see it … waiting for the official announcement on Mitch to start the party but we’ll see you there,” the store wrote, referring to U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, who is alive but has been hospitalized for weeks.

“VISUAL DESCRIPTION: two gay people celebrating the passing of two major A HOLES who dedicated their lives to making sure vulnerable people suffered,” the store added.

Smitten Kitten’s activism was frequently referenced in media coverage of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Operation Metro Surge earlier this year.

A June WCCO article said the store is now “asking the community for help sustaining itself” because of the financial strain caused by “directing staff and volunteer time, resources and fundraising efforts toward mutual aid work that supported immigrants.”

The article directed readers to a Smitten Kitten social media post where an employee refers to ICE as “Nazis and Gestapo,” calls individualism “a pillar of white supremacy,” and asks viewers for their business.
