An Andover man lured a 15-year-old girl on Snapchat by posing as a 16-year-old boy and then raped and sexually assaulted her on two different days after threatening to disseminate semi-nude photos of her if she didn’t comply, according to new charges filed in Anoka County.

Muhammed Adnan Abdulamer, 26, is facing three felony counts of sexual assault following a law enforcement investigation that began in November 2019, after they received a report of sexual assaults that occurred in September 2019 in the city of Ramsey, Minnesota.

The criminal complaint states that a 15-year-old female, the victim, reported that she began to communicate with a person she met on Snapchat, a popular social media messaging app that lets users exchange pictures and videos that are meant to disappear after they’re viewed.

The male identified himself to the victim as “Moe,” and the victim said that the male told her he was 16 years old and that he attended the same high school as the victim. During the course of the communication, the victim told the male she was 15, the complaint states.

The two continued to chat for a few days and the male began to make sexually suggestive comments in their chats. The male sent pictures of what was purported to be his genitals and requested pictures of the victim in return. The victim eventually sent images of herself in her bra and underwear.

After receiving the images, the male made a request to meet the victim, but she declined. The male then threatened to share her images with people in her school if she didn’t meet with him. The victim said that the male had saved the images and sent them back to her, so she knew that he would be able to share them. The complaint said that the victim did not want the images to be distributed, so she agreed to meet the male.

The victim said she met the male at a park in Ramsey on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019. She said the male was getting mad at her and was constantly texting her because she was late. When the victim arrived, she immediately knew the male was not 16 years old, and she said the male admitted he was 24.

The male again threatened that he would distribute the images if she told anyone about what was about to happen. The victim got into the male’s car and asked him to delete the images now that she met him. The male said no and told her that she would have to have sex with him first.

The victim described to the police that the park was busy and that the male drove to a different, nearby park. The victim said that she had never had sex prior and she was told to lay in the backseat. The victim said the male removed her clothing and began touching her genitals. The victim described that the male then put on a condom and penetrated her. When the victim complained that it hurt and told the male to stop, he told her to “shut the f*** up” and put his hand over her mouth and squeezed her face.

The victim said she was upset and crying and just didn’t want the images to be sent. After the male finished, the victim said they drove to a nearby gas station. She said the male went inside and she waited in the car. The victim said the male purchased some items and then dropped her off a few neighborhoods away from her house.

The victim did not tell her parents what happened. Later the same day, the male began texting her again and eventually demanded that she have sex with him again the next day or he would distribute the images.

The complaint said that out of fear of the images being distributed, she met the male again on Sept. 22, 2019. This time the male was in a different vehicle and he again told the victim that if they had sex one more time, he would delete the images. Once inside the car the male used his hands to force the victim to perform oral sex on him. While she was being forced, the victim noticed an unusual lump or mark on the male’s genitals. The male also fondled the victim’s breasts and then forcefully raped her again. The male again forced the victim to put her mouth on his genitals when he ejaculated.

The defendant then drove them to the same gas station as he had the day before. After getting home the male texted the victim and said he had fun and that they should date each other. The victim said no and blocked the male from her phone. The victim said she couldn’t do it again and didn’t care if the images got posted.

In the days that followed, the victim spoke with a few friends and eventually told her parents about what had happened, and police were contacted.

Investigators located video from the gas station, and it corroborated the victim’s description of the car, the male’s clothing which she had described to police, that she stayed in the car and what the male looked like.

Subsequent investigation identified the current owner of the car and the car was located at a residence on Round Lake Boulevard in Andover. During execution of a search warrant on Feb. 12, 2020, the previously unidentified male was identified as Abdulamer.

The complaint states that during the search, detectives located the clothing in Abdulamer’s bedroom that was described by the victim and seen on the video. Abdulamer admitted to police being on Snapchat as “Moe,” and admitted to driving the car as described and seen in the video. Abdulamer, however, denied ever chatting with or meeting up with any females. Abdulamer admitted that the image of him in the video at the gas station was, in fact, him but he had no explanation for the girl seen in the front seat. Abdulamer denied ever knowing the victim or having sex with her, or anyone, in the backseat of the car.

Detectives located stains on the backseat of the car which preliminarily tested as positive for semen. A subsequent search warrant documented that a distinctive lump was located on Abdulamer’s genitals.

Abdulamer has been charged with one felony count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving injury and use of force and two felony counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving force or coercion.

Abdulamer was booked into custody in Anoka County Jail on Tuesday and made his first court appearance on Friday, Feb. 14. Court records show that Abdulamer has retained an attorney and is being held on $400,000 bail with no conditions or $250,000 with conditions. If convicted, the complaint states that Abdulamer could face up to 30 years on the first-degree count and up to 15 years on each third-degree count.

A search of Minnesota court records doesn’t reveal any prior felony convictions for Abdulamer, meaning he likely has a zero or low criminal history score for sentencing purposes if convicted on the new charges. The Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Grid for Sex Offenders calls for a sentence between 144 to 172 months upon conviction on first-degree CSC for offenders with a zero criminal history score and between 41 to 57 months for a conviction on third-degree CSC.

Abdulamer is scheduled to make his next court appearance on March 5.
