Richfield, MN – Candidates on both sides of the aisle spoke out against US Representative Keith Ellison in a congressional forum Tuesday evening at the American Legion in Richfield.
Representative Ellison could not attend the forum, even though two of the candidates participating are challenging Ellison in the Democratic Primary – Democratic Candidates Lee Bauer and Gregg Iverson, who both said Ellison needs to go. Bauer went as far as saying “I just don’t see our values in Minnesota shining through Keith Ellison.”
Republican candidate Frank Drake also participated, saying he’s running to do more for the district, stating, “I’m running in this race because for ten years we’ve seen Mr. Ellison do absolutely nothing.”
While the candidates took different positions on certain issues, all of the candidates, including members of Ellison’s own party, leaned further to the right that the incumbent, particularly on gun control, with all of the candidates stating they fully support the Second Amendment.
The Democratic primary between Bauer, Iverson and Ellison is set for August 9th, with the winner taking on Republican Drake in November. Subscribe to Alpha News for continued election coverage.
