The Republican Party of Minnesota is undergoing a leadership shakeup as it prepares for the 2026 election cycle, with Executive Director Jennifer DeJournett departing amid a realignment of party operations.
In a weekend memo titled “Chairman’s Weekend Update,” state GOP Chair Alex Plechash said his team is reevaluating the traditional executive director role, hinting that a new leadership structure may be on the horizon.
“I have been reflecting on this objective and have concluded that the traditional role of Executive Director may not be the best structure for operational success,” Plechash wrote. “My team is reviewing this structure and considering realignment options to strengthen the stability of the party’s day-to-day operations.”
In the memo, Plechash thanked DeJournett for her “exceptional competence, loyalty, and skill.” He credited her with helping the party navigate a difficult transition when he first took over as chair in December and called DeJournett a “trusted advisor and a valued friend.”
Plechash said DeJournett will stay on in a “short-term limited role” to assist with the transition, though no successor or replacement structure was named.
The announcement signals a significant internal shift for the state GOP as it seeks to position itself for success in what’s expected to be a high-stakes 2026 election year.
“As this strategic realignment is being implemented, our dedicated team is stepping up to ensure we continue moving forward with strength and focus,” Plechash wrote. “I truly believe our party is poised for success in the 2026 election cycle.”
The memo didn’t specify when a decision on the party’s new organizational structure would be made, but emphasized the need to modernize operations to “expose the failed policies of the Democrats.”
Alpha News contacted DeJournett for comment; she responded with, “No comment.”
