A former Minnesota resident was charged in Tennessee earlier this year on multiple felony counts, including especially aggravated kidnapping and statutory rape, after authorities say he lured two missing girls from Tennessee and sexually assaulted one of them.
Isaac Schellsmidt, 21, is accused of picking up the 12 and 13-year-old girls and driving them to his residence in Nashville this January.
According to WKRN, Schellsmidt told investigators he had been communicating with the girls through social media and he knew they were underage when he picked them up. He also allegedly admitted he was aware their parents were looking for them while they were at his home.
Police said the 13-year-old was sexually assaulted while being held at Schellsmidt’s home.
Law enforcement officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation found the girls and they were returned to their families.
Schellsmidt is facing multiple charges, including especially aggravated kidnapping and statutory rape, both felonies. He is also charged with solicitation of a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, all misdemeanors, according to court records.
His next court appearance is set for June 24 in a Nashville courthouse.
Schellsmidt previously attended schools in the metro area. His parents are prominent Twin Cities real estate agents.
