U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reports that it has removed Oscar Alexander Cruz Rodriguez, 29, an illegally present foreign fugitive wanted in El Salvador for rape of a minor.
Cruz Rodriguez illegally entered the U.S. without inspection on an unknown date, at an unknown location, according to the ICE statement.
Minnesota court records appear to indicate that Cruz Rodriguez had been in Minnesota since at least 2019. In December 2019, Cruz Rodriguez was the petitioner in a civil court case filed in Hennepin County regarding custody of Cruz Rodriguez’s half-brother who arrived in Minnesota from El Salvador in May 2019 at the age of 17.
Records show that Cruz Rodriguez, living in Brooklyn Center at the time, was granted custody of the half-brother just three months prior to the minor’s 18th birthday. Further documentation was not available as to whether Cruz Rodriguez remained in Minnesota the entire time until his removal by ICE last month, nor where he was residing upon apprehension by ICE.
“Criminal foreign fugitives who prey on minors are not welcome in Minnesota,” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations St. Paul Field Office Director Peter Berg. “ICE is working closely with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners to help apprehend and remove dangerous criminal aliens like Rodriguez from our communities.”
The ICE Security Alliance for Fugitive Enforcement taskforce in El Salvador aided in the removal of Cruz Rodriguez.
Two other illegal aliens were recently arrested in Minnesota by ICE and face removal, including Alonso Luna-Perez, 38, of Mexico, who was convicted of two counts of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse.
