Ilhan Omar announced her fourth marriage, Wednesday night, this time with a man who appears to be her chief fundraiser, Tim Mynett.
The progressive “Squad” member unveiled the fresh union with a black and white Instagram post. “Got married! From partners in politics to life partners, so blessed. Alhamdulillah,” she captioned the photo.

This marriage comes not long after Omar divorced her second husband Ahmed Hirsi in November after allegations broke that she was cheating on Hirsi with Mynett, according to the Daily Caller. Mynett’s ex-wife claims he admitted to his affair with the representative, according to the Caller, however both he and Omar have denied any scandalous relationship, reports the New York Post.
In August, Omar’s campaign spent over $20,000 to fund Mynett’s travel with the representative, according to the Caller. This occurred during the time the pair were allegedly having an affair.
Omar’s marriage to her chief fundraiser is only the newest installment in her long and complicated romantic history.
According to the Pioneer Press, Omar married Hirsi in a religious ceremony in 2002, but did not see this union legally recognized. This relationship resulted in two children before Omar legally married British citizen Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009.
Some claim that Elmi is Omar’s brother, wed to her as part of an immigration scheme. This is evidenced by a now-deleted Facebook post from 2013 in which Omar seems to identify Elmi as part of her family, according to the Caller.
By 2012, Omar had moved on from Elmi, but the two remained legally married as she reunited with Hrisi and had a third child with him.
In 2018, Omar officially married Hirsi after divorcing Elemi, and by the next year she began her alleged affair with Mynett leading to the end of her marriage to Hirsi and the beginning of her current union.
