Hundreds of Hugo residents gathered in Lion’s Park over the weekend for a “Unity Rally” in response to a Black Lives Matter protest the weekend prior.
The Saturday morning event remained peaceful, although a state senator and two House candidates backed out of attending because of “threats and potential for violence.”
The Unity Rally was organized as a positive response to an Aug. 15 Black Lives Matter protest outside the Hugo home of Bob Kroll, president of the Minneapolis police union.
