A 33-year-old Minnesota man faces 17 felony charges after allegedly sending explicit photos and videos to an undercover investigator posing as a 13-year-old girl on a messaging app, according to a criminal complaint filed in Waseca County District Court.
Frederick Nimtz, of Plainview, was arrested Oct. 8 at his home in Wabasha County following an investigation by the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office.
The charges, filed the next day, include soliciting a child through electronic communication to engage in sexual conduct and distributing material describing sexual conduct to someone he believed was a child. Each count carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
A ‘known’ DFL activist?
The Olmsted County GOP alleges that Nimtz is a “known Democratic activist” in the area.
In a statement posted to its Facebook page, the local party alleges, “Fred, as he is known by his friends at protests, has been a known leader on the left who attempts to shout down and aggressively intimidate those he disagrees with. He has been vocal against President Trump and local GOP leaders.”
The Olmsted County GOP called upon “Indivisible 507, Democrat Party of Olmsted County, and ISAIAH, groups he is a known affiliate of, to denounce the behavior of Fred Nimtz and commit to not welcoming him to future events with their respective organizations. This behavior is wrong and we believe there is a zero tolerance policy for actions such as these.”
Disturbing details alleged in complaint
The criminal complaint details conversations from August to September 2025 between Nimtz, using the username “Amcgowan54,” and a Waseca County Sheriff’s Office investigator who posed as a 13-year-old girl from Waseca.
Nimtz initially expressed concern but soon introduced sexual topics, asking if the “girl” was on the app for “Sex stuff? Or what,” the charges say.
According to the complaint, Nimtz acknowledged the age difference multiple times, telling the undercover officer, “Right, so that’s too young,” and later, “So you want me to risk jail time, talking to you, for nothing?” Despite this, he allegedly sent explicit images and videos of himself, described sexual acts including BDSM and chastity devices, and urged the “girl” to “explore your sexuality.”
In one exchange, Nimtz wrote, “Well, I’m a sucker for blowjobs,” and instructed what he wanted the “girl” to do, according to the complaint. Investigators said he also sent videos of himself masturbating while repeating the “girl’s” name
Authorities say they identified Nimtz through IP address tracking, messaging app records linked to his email, and photos and tattoos that matched his social media accounts. When deputies arrested him, he was found wearing a chastity device that matched descriptions in the chats, the complaint states.
Nimtz has been released on bail.
Alpha News reached out to Olmsted County DFL, Indivisible 507, and ISAIAH for comment. ISAIAH did not respond. Olmsted County DFL and Indivisible 507 both denied that Nimtz is affiliated with their organizations.
“Fred Nimtz does not live in Olmsted County. He has not been active in either of the two DFL organizing units in Olmsted County. It appears the Olmsted County GOP is desperate to attack the DFL in Olmsted County after the successful No Kings rally attended by thousands of people in Rochester, but nothing Mr. Nimtz is alleged to have done has any connection to Olmsted County DFLers,” the Olmsted County DFL said.
The local Indivisible group said “Nimtz is not a member of Indivisible 507 and is not affiliated with our organization in any way.”
“This appears to be a blatant attempt by the Olmsted County GOP to politicize the scourge of child sex abuse to score points with their base, without regard for the truth or any real concern for victims,” the group added.
Both organizations said they “unequivocally condemn child sex abuse” and called on Republicans to “release the Epstein files.”
