A group of Minnesota whistleblowers who have been speaking out on fraud in state government for the last three years praised Alpha News’ latest documentary while acknowledging that they are “genuinely scared” for the future of the state.

The new documentary, “Minnesota Mao,” was released on Thursday, the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre and Gov. Tim Walz’s wedding anniversary.

The crowdfunded documentary takes a cutting look at the strange connections between Gov. Walz—aka “Minnesota Mao”—and Chairman Mao Zedong, the former dictator of the Chinese Communist Party.

It also examines Walz’s tenure as governor and features interviews with an Annunciation Catholic School mother, former Minneapolis police officer Tou Thao, Department of Human Services (DHS) whistleblower Faye Bernstein, and more.

A group of DHS employees who operate a popular account on X called “Minnesota Mao” a “powerful documentary.”

“As state employees with decades of work experience, we have seen the darkness of Tim Walz’s ideologies. We are genuinely scared for our state,” they wrote.

The DHS employees describe themselves as “over 480 Minnesota state staff serving with pride & commitment to our people & state.” The Department of Human Services has been at the center of many of Minnesota’s fraud scandals.

“In our view, Tim Walz represents everything wrong with modern politics: a politician skilled at crafting a public image while avoiding accountability for the consequences of his decisions. Tim Walz has lied his way through politics and shrugging off any criticisms. Under his leadership, Minnesota has experienced growing division, declining public trust, and a political climate increasingly driven by ideology rather than common sense,” the employees added.

“Our state has been sold out to fraudsters to advance and project his power. Any credibility in state government has now been clouded with suspicion and distrust.”

The state employees went on to criticize Minnesota’s media for providing the governor with a “protective shield.”

“Moreover, any state employee that dared to challenge Tim Walz was subject to many ‘communist’ like tactics that include surveillance, repeat investigations designed to harass and intimidate, and direct threats to our lives or livelihoods. Whistleblowers were not only retaliated against, we were crushed by his ideological tanks. This is no Democracy,” they wrote.

“Rather than bringing people together, he helped create an environment where political disagreement became personal hostility, leaving communities fractured and public debate increasingly toxic,” they added.

Ultimately, they see Walz’s legacy as one of “eroded trust, weakened institutions, and a government more focused on ideology than on serving ordinary citizens.”
