Attorney Tayler Rahm announced his candidacy for Minnesota’s Second Congressional District this week.

“The American dream is still alive and it’s worth fighting for,” the Republican said in a press release. “I’m running to serve the people of Minnesota’s Second Congressional District and to ensure that dream remains in reach for our future generations.”

Democrat Angie Craig has represented the south metro swing district since 2019 after beating Republican Tyler Kistner in back-to-back challenges. Republicans held the district from 2001-2019.

Considered the state’s last remaining swing district, the race for CD2 surpassed $24 million in total spending last cycle, making it the most expensive congressional race in state history.

2024 is likely to be no different as both Democrats and Republicans have announced plans to target the district.

According to a press release, Rahm opened his own law practice in 2019 and lives in Burnsville with his wife. He earned his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 2015 and his undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas.

On his campaign website, Rahm identifies the economy, public safety, border security, and school choice as his top priorities.

Former gubernatorial candidate Mike Murphy is also seeking the Republican endorsement in CD2.
