Vice President JD Vance has responded to a viral clip of U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, saying the Democratic Minnesota congresswoman is a “disgrace.”
“This isn’t just sick; it’s actually genocide language. What a disgrace this person is,” the Republican vice president wrote on X.

He was responding to a clip of Omar from a 2018 appearance on Al Jazeera that resurfaced and went viral over the weekend.
In that interview, Omar was asked how she would respond to conservatives who “would say that the rise in Islamophobia is a result not of hate but of fear, a legitimate fear, they say, of quote-unquote jihadist terrorism.”
“I would say our country should be more fearful of white men across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country. And so if fear was the driving force of policies to keep America safe, Americans safe inside of this country, we should be profiling, monitoring, and creating policies to fight the radicalization of white men,” responded Omar, who was a state legislator at the time of the interview.
A spokesperson for Omar told the Associated Press in 2019 that she was “referring to studies that show a rise in killings by right-wing extremists,” the AP article says.
U.S. House Majority Whip Tom Emmer also responded to the Omar clip, saying she “never ceases to be an embarrassment for Minnesota.”
