Democrat New Year’s resolutions aren’t like yours

Lots of Americans make New Year’s resolutions, but when they come back to work after the holidays this year, they’ll have to get ready for a new Democratic House majority that has very different resolutions in mind.

Nancy Pelosi and other Democrat leaders are giddy at the prospect of using politically motivated “investigations” as bargaining chips to push their liberal agenda, for instance. Their goal is to place the Trump administration under permanent congressional investigation in order to give the Democrats greater leverage in policy negotiations. If that strategy works, it will be a disaster for the American people.

In January, President Trump’s trade team will be in the midst of the most important trade negotiations in a generation, which will decide the future economic balance between China and America. We’ll need a Congress to resolve to reach across the aisle and score a big win for American workers once those negotiations are complete. Instead we’ll have a Congress that will likely block even the best trade deal of all time because it will have been negotiated by Donald Trump.

The Democrats are also resolved to raise our taxes. According to Nancy Pelosi, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that is fueling historic hiring and GDP growth is a “scam.” The $2,900 that the average American family is saving every year thanks to the President’s tax cuts is just “crumbs” in Pelosi parlance, just like the $1,000 bonuses many workers received when Republicans slashed America’s formerly-punitive corporate tax rate.

Pelosi confirmed back in May that both the individual and corporate tax cuts are definitely on the chopping block for the new year, meaning the vigilance of President Trump and the GOP-controlled Senate is all that’s stopping her from sabotaging America’s economic recovery.

While American workers clearly don’t factor in the Democrats’ New Year’s resolutions, another group clearly does: illegal aliens.

Amnesty for more than 3.6 million illegal aliens is a top priority for the new Democrat majority in the House, which hopes to eventually extend total amnesty to all 22 million illegal aliens living in America.

Although most of these big-ticket resolutions are little more than fantasies of the radical left wing of the Democrat Party, they have gained considerable influence within the caucus in recent years. Individual Democrats are already revving up to push other unpopular bills with little to no chance of becoming law, including a blanket ban on private gun sales, redefining the distinction between men and women, and passing a socialist healthcare plan they’ve duplicitously dubbed “Medicare for All.”

As we approach a new year, let’s be absolutely clear about one thing: the incoming House Democrats have very different ideas for New Year’s resolutions than does the average American voter.

Rather than promoting the best interests of the American people, these Democrats are only concerned with obstructing President Trump and undoing the significant progress his administration has already made.
