Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s last visit to Minnesota came in December 2017, meaning Friday marked 1,000 days since he last set foot in the state.

The former vice president stopped in Minnesota on Dec. 9, 2017 for his “American Promise Tour,” but hasn’t been back in town since.

“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are in for a big surprise if they ever decide to visit Minnesota before Election Day. Tired of coastal elite politicians who don’t care about their families or their values, Minnesotans will make Biden and Harris wish they hadn’t waited 1,000+ days to visit our state when they vote for President Trump in November,” said Preya Samsundar, a spokesperson for the Republican National Committee.

Biden said he plans to visit the state sometime after Labor Day as a number of recent polls had him in a dead heat with the president in one of the most reliably blue states in the country.

“We realize that it’s been quite some time since Joe Biden stepped outside of his basement but if he ever does return to Minnesota he may not recognize it,” Minnesota Republican Party Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan said in a statement. “Since day one, Joe Biden has taken Minnesota’s ten electoral votes for granted, while President Trump’s campaign has been working overtime talking to voters and real Minnesota families across the state.”

Carnahan said the president “is determined” to be the first Republican to win the state since Richard Nixon in 1972. Even DFL Party Chairman Ken Martin has acknowledged that Trump is “personally obsessed” with flipping the state red.

“President Trump himself has visited Minnesota five times in the last 1,000 days,” Carnahan noted. “While Joe Biden and Kamala Harris refuse to visit the Land of 10,000 Lakes, President Trump and Vice President Pence are committed to continue working on behalf of Minnesotan families, manufacturers and farmers.”
